Planet League is an innovative global esports league and competition that targets casual gamers playing games of skill on consoles, PCs and mobile devices and accessible via the Planet League® mobile application.
Planet League is creating a web 3.0 ecosystem, onboarding gamers to participate in building out a sustainable global league on the blockchain that is rewarding, participative (through DAO’s) and with its own micro-economy and currency.
Planet League is built on the Harmony blockchain (and is a ‘Launch Grant’ awardee), offering first time crypto gamers fast speeds & super low gas fees. The smart contracts have been audited by 0xGuard and has currently been deployed on MAINNET.
The league itself is game, publisher and platform agnostic: gamers choose from a selection of games that they would want to compete in, based on which they start their league journey. The league is mapped to every geography and is a 7-tier structure that gamers play through across 'seasons', with the higher leagues involving international gameplay and competitions.

The Planet League gameplay is driven by the ‘Play to Earn and Own’ concept as integrated within a competitive league structure: a gamer needs a certain amount of Planet League Stars ($PLS) (its own HRC-20 compliant utility token) for playing in every league game. Based on a winning or losing outcome, a player will have $PLS credited or debited from their smart wallet and the platform collects a tax for adjudicating the game. The entire workflow is driven by smart contracts between the users and the platform until the outcome is confirmed based on which the transactions get recorded on the blockchain.
Using $PLS, players can 'own' various elements across the ecosystem (such as NFTs, Clubs, Guilds and more) which will be launched by early 2023, and swap for governance tokens to participate in the DAO. Once launched, these assets will have real yielding earning opportunities through a share of the platform tax and other revenue the leagues generate.
In light of the current market situation, the platform is currently integrated with $PLX (also an HRC 20 compliant utility token) as an exchangeable token for $PLS until the token generation event and public launch of $PLS. Once $PLS is minted, all $PLX holders will be offered a SWAP which is likely to happen later in 2022, or early 2023, when the markets pick up.
